IMO it’s going to work the other way around. I’m doing my best composition ever using LLM coding tools that just use Ableton as a rendering engine.

We should talk - I’m building a Claude Code plugin for music composition and analysis, which currently integrates with Ableton using MCP and Ableton control surface (basically LOM) and an M4L patch. But it could easily work with any DAW that has the right primitives.

Thank you! If I’m reading your findings correctly, this is focused on UI capabilities, and likely rides on top of the existing Live Object Model (LOM) rather than a new integration.

Which is a bummer, because LOM is fantastic for what it does, but has many many many frustrating gaps. Like, it cannot add devices to the master/main track. It can’t read MIDI pitch bend events, etc.

If you choose that direction, yes. But you can also choose integrator -> CPO.

In the same way there’s a distinction between writers and typists, and you really don’t hear anything about typists these days.

Not sure that analogy applies. I'd compare it to the difference between an engineer building a bridge and a politician ring-fencing the funds for it.

Again, these tools let you operate in that model as well.

But if you want to design the aesthetic of the bridge, ensure that it is ergonomic for cars, bicycles, pedestrians, make sure it is designed to last and withstand rare weather events, and fully modeled with FIE… you can do that too.

AI is like having a thousand specialists in every field, waiting for you to ask. You can have them research, check each other’s work, build simulations, etc… or you can let them go unused, or you can ask them to tell you how smart you are.

Anthropic is 5 minutes, though you can pay more to get 60 minutes I believe.

The #1 was to make Claude code token quota go further is to never let the 5 minute cache TTL expire. Either send a new request within the window, or use /clear and copy/paste, or use /clear and a framework that automatically generates session state that gets replayed from files after /clear.

Can you elaborate? How could it be more efficient and bad for revenue? Would it also be bad for profit?

More efficient in terms of bandwidth (not) used. More costly because it has to be stored somewhere instead.

We’ve really hit that point, where our institutions are transparently corrupt, and everyone knows it, and both the guilty and the public just say “yep, we’re doing the corrupt thing”.

It’s depressing as hell, and it’s going to go out with the proverbial whimper, but at least we’ve got to be close to rock bottom, right?

From someone who lives in a country that is still more corrupt than America.

You need to vote for the next several years, no matter what, because you still have a chance.

Once corruption becomes the default, then you are REALLY screwed. Because it kills hope and the faith in the future in the most corrosive way possible.

The death of morale is a far worse and insidious fate that will make today look like a high point.

I appreciate the perspective. From where I sit in America, morale is as dead as it gets. The president wrote himself a $2B check, and both his supporters and opponents are resigned to this massive theft. Restrictions on voting are nonsensical, the Supreme Court is transparently ruling based on who will benefit rather than what the laws say, and masked “police” are terrorizing communities.

Of course I’ll vote, and be more active in protests and campaigns, but TBH the general vibe is that it’s already too late. It’s that bad.

I know and understand. I follow American politics closely since it’s a massive incubator for techniques that get applied globally.

I promise you, it can be worse. This is kind of where being a first world person works against you; you have not experienced the feeling of hopelessness and lethargy that infects you when you live under a corrupt regime for an extended length of time.

America used to work, especially in comparison to other states.

Consider that your advantage, you have lived in a world where you know things were held under checks and balances. That it takes immense effort to undermine the systems which were set up.
