This.

In my 40s I asked my doc what I should get screened for and when. He said to wait until 50. Now I wait here on death row with stage 4 colorectal cancer.

What did you want your doctor to say, instead?

what do you think? what do you think he's going to say when he has stage 4 cancer?

I just don't understand why the doctor would say anything different than what the national screening guidelines suggest?

I think he's arguing that guidelines are dumb/outdated

I think the guidelines are fine - we can't stop everyone's disease and that's not what the purpose of these screening tests are.

that's because you don't have stage 4 cancer

Several friends broke their arms falling off of swings as children. This maybe means that children should no longer be allowed to have access to swings?

in the case of stage 4 cancer, what is the swing?

Somebody posted 'Adobe Photoshop 1.0 Source Code (1990)' recently so I think this post is some kind of smartass response to that.

DAE remember in 2010 when Steve Jobs said that Facetime would be an open industry standard?

FaceTime got caught up in patent issues that precluded both opening it up and resulted in architecture changes: https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2013/08/report-after-pat... .

This makes no sense as an explanation. They changed the architecture not to infringe on the patents. So the patents are not stopping them from opening up now.

I recall that it was possible to squeeze a disk cache in too, which made a nice difference for performance.

A YT'er named 'Spoony' also made a thorough, entertaining retrospective of the Ultimas, and even caps it off with an interview with Lord British!

I loved U7 and 7.5, but those were the last ones I played because the series somewhat went off the rails after that. Pity.

Smart businessman, but not the best reputation as a boss or for creating a pleasant work environment, even by the standards of the day.

Yeah I've been using non-.Net languages this week, and lamenting how much they suck in regards to smooth version management

I'm thinking that Valve's new SteamBox will help this tremendously.

You meant GabeCube

Exactly. Now that the facade of being a country with integrity and equality is thoroughly shattered, good luck getting public support for shutting down a website that lets people read news for free. Shit's on fire yo; we got bigger problems than that.
