Leap seconds should be replaced with a leap hour or day or something. Then we could just ignore this forever and hopefully people eons in the future will realise having time sync'd with the sun is ... rather useless.
Au contraire, it is why civil time exists: to be able to talk about when something happens during the day, and everyone will be confused if 9 AM is not somewhere near the beginning of the work day. Leap hours or days are a cop-out, it's just shifting the problem and making it worse.
